Seeds in space
SRON/ESA
Netherlands Institute for Space Research (SRON) and Dutch Experimental Science Center (DESC) wanted to do something with Mission Delta of the European Space Agency (ESA), the flight of André Kuipers (dutch astronaut) to the International Space Station (ISS). With the design proposals of Plato product consultants the ministry of Education, Culture and Science was approached with a project proposition. Decided was to create a science education experiment in cooperation with primary schools and colleges. The design has the shape of a rocket and is meant to contain and germinate salad rocket. 70.000 students have participated in this experiment, which was succesfull on earth and in space.
Plato product consultants designed the logo of Seeds in Space in cooperation with graphical designer Gerbrand van Melle. Plato also designed the rocket and the graphics of the rocket. The rocket is made of PP-plate and was tinkered by the students themselfs with bilateral tape. Next to all this, Plato created the guidebook for the experiment, the bag for André Kuipers and three promotional rockets of 2,5 metres high. The production and packing activities were guided by Plato as well.
